Money. That's the bottom line. As with everyone and everything who gets popular, the MW series has sold out. I CRAVE the fun I had playing COD 1 and Allied Assault. The maps, the weapons, the STRATEGY. Yes, strategy. Remember that element? Playing bases, and better yet, no tanks bases. Man, was that fun. Every installment (save perhaps the first MW) has been a steady decline into mediocrity. Egotistical game designers and developers who cater to the almighty dollar rather than taking the time to make a quality game. (Hats off to Bethesda. Skyrim is incredible) In the realm of creativity, imagination, attention to detail, and intelligent design, the MW series is sunk.
Single player is predictable, and the one saving grace from MW2--it's spec op missions--make a reappearance, but seem to be a mere afterthought. They could have created so much replayability by giving finish times for each difficulty level. Instead, spec ops missions are either easy or frustratingly difficult.
Gotta hand it to the marketers...all style and no substance is the character of the game and of Activision.
