Overall this is the pinnacle of what a WW2 game should be.

User Rating: 9 | Call of Duty: World at War PS3
Call of Duty World at War is a game based in the largest most destructive war to date. It is not a perfect game but it isn't bad either.

Graphics:
This game is just plain amazing visual wise. The jungle environments, the landing beaches, and the wrecked cities makes it truly feel as if you were in a war-zone. I was in awe during the landing early in the game as you watch a burning island in front of you and explosions all around. The gore really makes you feel as if you were in war, and in a way makes you feel sorry for the enemy, especially as dismemberment and blood spray fills your crosshairs (If i recall correctly there are settings to turn down the gore).

Sound:
This game is amazing sound wise. The voice acting is well done with Kiefer Sutherland playing Sgt. Robuck and Gary Oldman playing Sgt. Reznov. The explosions are loud and crisp, and the small arm sounds are quite well done.

Gameplay:

Overall its a fun game to play. Its only natural it has the look and feel of COD 4 as it uses the same engine. Although not a lot has changed some things are welcome additions, including mobile Machine Guns such as the M1919 Browning machine gun and the MG-42 (These have not really been seen since Call of Duty Big Red One).

There are plenty of weapons to use in the campaign including shotguns, flamethrowers, bayonets, and the occasional in game radio which you can use to call airplane and rocket strikes. There selection of weapons is a little limited on the single player side which limits its replay ability.

The other problem with game play which has often driven me nuts is the grenades. The enemy is really good with them, so be prepared to be killed plenty of times after the grenade indicator comes up too late for you to do much about it (This was also present in COD 4).

I also dislike how short the campaign is, its better than most games, but it is sorta short especially on second and third campaigns after you understand what is going on. I mean the Second mission alone takes less than 15 minutes to complete once you know what you are doing.

Much of these short Campaigns are mostly due to the increasing need to make multiplayer the main part of the game, which is fine for other people i just don't play online enough to make it worthwhile.

Overall:

Its a good game but with the Short Campaign which skips around a little and a low selection of firearms it will get on the boring side.

Overall it gets a 9.0 cause its better than what seems to be coming out these days, which are mostly multiplayer with little single player.
