So we.ve all been there and done that eh???

So following the incredible success of Modern warfare and having owned the game since it's launch date and racking up what can only be described as a 'saaaaad' ammount of hours gameplay, World at War...

Granted then, the situation, WW2 is a bit cliched nowadays, but theres something eternally satisfying (but sad) about extracting the revenge of our fore-fathers on those Gerrys. The simple fact of the matter is that we all love doing it, unless your german possibly, but i'm sure even a few of them don't mind shooting their relatives in a game that takes this classic scenario to it's pinnacle to date.

The campaign mode, as it stands is not inspired, though there are some nice set-peices to be noted which still gave a bit of the Wow factor to, let's be honest, some less than rivetting levels. The enemy AI remains fairly humble and the tank levels are just as grey as the paintwork which covers the vehicle. THEN i discovered that this is all change when you switch the difficulty setting to Veteran. My word, do things become almost intolerably difficult at this point. I truly admire those individuals who can honestly proclaim to have completed any of the later levels on one life. Lets ave a vid of it people!... The animation ad environments are awesome in places, though i can't help but wonder if any game will ever come as close to Crysis in creating a semi-authentic jungle environment.

The other major flaw i feel with the game is that in classic PS2 style the levels are quite restricted, and you get that awfull sense of being herded into a set peice, 'i'm not f'ing going in there' was one of my most used phrases in re-completing the game on veteran 'are they out of there f'ing minds or what, this is a MP40 not a sodding chaingun' was another, as you ready for the old, get another beer before i try again, break and dive into the fray.

Multi-player on the other hand remains very polished, the core maps and game modes allowing for a spot overkill, and the hardcore maps allowing for a slightly less cavalier attitude toward the situation. The map pack released recently however is really not the most imaginative they could have concocted, Makin day granted is good, Nightfire is great on war but poor lighting , and i may sound old here (26), ;plays ell wif me eyes'. Makin day..... Why? What's wrong with Makin, and station are obviously the ideas the designers weren't allowed to put in the release version of the game.

Anyhoo, despite flaws, despite a truly **** ya pants difficult Veteran mode and despite some FRUSTRATING server problems, I will continue to answer to my Call of Duty.......

BANG........... beer time!!
