Good for a wii FPS
Graphics-7/10
Not bad for the wii, at first sight, it looked good. However, it is the wii. Let's be honest, the wii is not comparable in graphics to the pc, xbox and ps3. Graphics however have never been a big deal, i've never judged games based on the graphics. However, the limitations of the wii engine does get in the way. After going to the pc and playing counterstrike source (5 years old now), i realized how bad the graphics were on wii cod5. I went back to play, and it was hard for me to see my surroundings, and the enemy. Also there wasnt much of a war enviroment, at least not as much as other non-wii fps, not enough blood, and smoke, and such.
--GRAPHICS BOTTOM LINE--
For the wii, the graphics are good, though not the best ive seen (personally i liked mario galazy and zelda twilight princess better). However, it is not nearly comparable to the games on the pc, and other consoles today.
Gameplay-7/10
I had high hopes for this game's gameplay when i bought it. I always thought the wiimote would be a perfect controller for fps. Though not providing the perfectly smooth control i always found on the computer, it for me, provided a much more natural experience than when i played fps on the xbox and ps3. However, this was most likely because of the hard-to-see enemies, the controls did not give me a satisfactory aiming experience. Yes i could control the sensitivity, but this still didnt give me the amount of control i had wanted. Besides the controls, the gameplay was not bad.
It gave me most of what i wanted from a fps
But, i noticed there were no vehicles, which i was looking forward to driving (and running over ppl).
--GAMEPLAY BOTTOM LINE--
The gameplay was ok, but the controls seemed clumsier than i wanted, and it was a bit more lacking than other fps
Mlutiplayer- 5/10
Not enough modes, no speak, no communication at all. It did not have enough replay value, it was fun for a bit, but the lack of modes, and the lack of network/communication, just didnt give me depth, it didnt feel much different than killing computerized bots. Also, no non-online versus mode, i was incredibly dissapointed, i was looking forward to playing with others at home, but nope, this really killed it for me.
--MULTIPLAYER BOTTOM LINE--
The lack of versus, is horrible
The online is missing modes
Missing communication
Not enough depth
Story/Campaign/Single Player-7/10
Short, and any mode besides veteran, is incredibly easy. This was a problem i always found with the regenarating health system. You get shot, and you hide, and ur fine a moment later, its so hard to die, jsut too easy. The only times i died was when i didnt see the grenade icon (WHICH BY THE WAY IS TOO SMALL). The enemies arent too smart, they dont see you sometimes when ur right next to them. Besides that though, the campaign was ok, it covered the japanese-american war, and the russian push toward berlin, which was ok. The new japanese addition added several new guns and some new "tactics".
--SINGLE PLAYER BOTTOM LINE--
The regenerating life of the series is retarded, and makes it too easy
Grenade icon is too small
Dumb AI
----PROS----
-good graphics for the wii
-japanese, spread of campaign
-Ok controls, though not satisfactory
----CONS----
-Bad graphics compared to others
-Bad multiplayer
-No versus
-Dumb AI
-Grenade icon is tiny
-The same dumb regenarating life
----FINAL BOTTOM LINE----
If you're craving a perfect fps for the wii, this is not it
However, it's an ok fps, a game to satisfy you for a month or two, before that fps you're wanting comes out
Rent first
Not satisfatory to me
