Old School comes back in a major way and thank you so much for this Capcom! and for the whipper snappers time for school
Some of the games I owned for the NES, some for the Sega Genesis, others played in the arcade and me wishing to bring them home. I d say the only ones I didnt know about were Exed Exes, Son Son, and Pirate Ship Higemaru only because they were never released before. The rest however are simply bliss. My only complaint is with SF II! for those of us in the know there is a Street Fighter Anniversary collection disc already out on the market so why bother throwing those in there? good to have but not when you already own the anniversary collection!! I was very pleased with the Ghost and Goblins/Ghouls and Ghosts games as they are superb especially when the graphic & music set in. Forgotten Worlds is still a premo shooter as is 1942/1943 and I ll even say that Vulgus was alright. I was hoping NOT for the arcade Bionic Commando but the original NES version but oh well. Section Z all I can say is *yawn* Mercs is a great over head Contra-type game. Of course I shall not forget Final Fight! all the quarters I spent on that game have back in spades now that I can play it again at home. Now that we are on the subject of quarters one of my all time favorites in the arcade made me weep with nostalgic glee and that my friends is Gunsmoke. That was the game I couldnt wait to play. I will say also that Pirate Ship Higemaru was a pleasant surprise indeed.
These games to me represent the golden age of gaming when games were simply put: fun to play. For those of you raised in the new day and age of gaming I feel sorry for you (just joking) for missing out on all this but, I d really like to STRESS the NEED to pick up this disc not just for the overall value but, for the important history lesson you ll take away from it. Worth noting is that this is JUST volume 1. I can only wonder what other gems Capcom will put in volume 2. Whenever they want to make me feel all nostalgic again I ll be ready to enjoy games that are worth every second I ve played and will play again. What can I say I wouldnt be here today if the old school didnt pave the way!
