Love the Captain, Hate the Gameplay
First, in the difficulty of the enemies you face. I found that along the path, when you encounter the typical soldiers, they were never difficult to defeat. Throwing the shield repeatedly seemed to do the trick. Trying to fight with punches and kicks, seemed pointless unless I wanted to make it a little more dramatic and realistic. But what is the Cap' without his shield so defeating soldiers becomes more of a nuisance than real gameplay. Even when you are swarmed, it seems to easy.
On the other end of the spectrum, the bosses at the end of the first couple of levels, seemed to be extremely more difficult and some to the point of complete frustration.
The other issues with gameplay were on the ability to jump onto, swing from or run across objects. The highlights of particular items I could jump on or swing from was almost junior arcadish. There should have been a way to switch that off and not just have this glowing object light up each time. I found that getting in the way of real game play trying to figure out how to get across certain barriers. It was just too easy. There was no way to not know how to cross over obstacles. Bad design.
Third, was that some of the graphics had glitches. I could punch my hand or kick through a wall with no damage to the wall or door or window, just a disappearing arm or leg. In one section, I was able to mount a gun in a tower after easily defeating the soldiers. Shooting the cannon at buildings caused what looked to be a ripple effect to the building I shot at, not any damage. It was look I was throwing a rock at a sheet painted like a building, watching it bulge out then come right back to a perfect building. Terrible design on that part too.
Therefore I gave the game a rating of a 5.0 since I love Captain America. There are so many better shooters out there. Only play this because of the character and becoming the greatest War hero of all time.
