Lousy racing game

User Rating: 4.7 | CART Fury: Championship Racing PS2
This game is void of praise. The sound, gameplay and uninspiring visuals are worthy of little attention. The announcer is rather annoying; in fact, the arcade style announcer was something that would have been better left in the arcade. Speaking of arcade, that's what this game is like... It's an arcade racer, easy to master but not much in the way of replay value. I personally love race car games, ever since Pole Position, I've been hooked. Great racing titles come few and far between. Good ones come along occasionally, but truly extrordinary ones are seldom offered. Cart Fury had the potential of being a great game, even a good game. Visually, the game delivers decent environments and pretty nice car models. That sums up the praise appropriate for this title. The sound is bad, really bad. The cars, the announcer, the music, all bad, not good. The gameplay is loose and not terribly engaging. Controls are exaggerated and the cars simply do not handle anything like an open wheel race car. Likewise, the way in which you attack the tracks in the game is out of proportion with how you might expect to. This is another brave purchase I made, albeit some time ago. Don't bother buying it, don't bother renting it. Whatever the asking price on Ebay, let it go, there are far better games out there.
