An enjoyable mix of old school golden axe style combat and cartoonish visuals with a twisted sense of humor.

If you loathe the day developers decided that beat-em-ups weren't selling well enough, and have an xbox live connection and a credit card, you need to buy castle crashers.

For 15$ in the microsoft arcade you can experience the old golden-axe style arcade action you've come to know and love from the past, with cartoonish visuals and a twisted sense of humor.

The gameplay is simple, jam on the X button for light attacks, slam the y button for heavy attacks, use the right trigger in combination with other buttons to unleash magical attacks, and hold the Left trigger to guard. They are simple, easy to grip, and just about anyone will pick them up quickly.

The visuals, while not incredible, definitely take on a personality of their own, and if you have played the Behemoth's last game, alien hominid, then you know just what I mean.

But what really makes this game excellent is just how much insanity the game can throw at you, one moment you are fighting your friends in multiplayer for the hand of a princess, and the next oyu find yourself riding atop[ a deer who is being jet propelled by his own droppings (I told you the sense of humor was twisted) away from a huge black beast. This craziness makes the game an absolute joy to play.

Castle crashers does have its downsides, though. The major one is that single player is incredibly cheap. You will find your character being constantly mauled by enemies that enjoy ganging up on you and throwing you all over, and no friend can revive you once you die.

In the end, though, retro inthusiasts with an xbox live connection and 15$ need to play this game, it's just like golden axe, but a bit more crazy.
