One of the most fun, and funny games available on XBLA. A must-have for any gamer.
The first thing you'll notice when starting up this XBOX Live Arcade game is the high level of quality. Well animated cartoony graphics greet you along with a fun and upbeat musical soundtrack. You'll have a few options, such as playing the campaign, competing in arena battles, or participating in an all-you-can-eat competition. The campaign is definitely the bread and butter of this Castle Crashers.
You can play all by your lonesome, but the real fun is when you join up with up to three friends either locally or over XBOX Live. You have the ability to play as any of the four colored knights, or any of the unlocked characters. And you are able to warp to any level you've previously completed. To complete the entire campaign, it might take you a few hours depending on your skill.
Castle Crashers is all about the humor. Everything from the character animations, the minions you fight, the boss battles, locations and other situations have been crafted with wit and mirth in mind. And it's fun to play! Smack around hoards of baddies, clobber ridiculous bosses, and fight your friends for the right to kiss the princesses.
For a downloadable game, this is a real bargain. The campaign itself is worth the price, and you get the other modes as well. Plus there is plenty of replay value, tons of hidden items and pets to unlock, and an insanely difficult mode that unlocks once you beat the game. I'd say Castle Crashers is one of the best games XBLA has to offer. If you don't have it, do yourself a favor and at least download the demo!
