more than just Minecraft with guns

User Rating: 8.5 | CastleMiner Z X360
I had heard from a number of people that Castleminer Z was no more than Minecraft with guns. To see where I stood on the matter I bought the indie title and to my surprise it was very good. I can see where they compare this game to Minecraft as the visuals and building style resemble each other but I feel Castleminer Z did a better job with it. I got bored of Minecraft within the first few hours of playing but since I have bought Castleminer Z I haven't been able to put it down. Survival is by far my favorite mode, especially with online co-op, it makes the game a lot more fun to play and build with friends and strangers. I haven't faced one rude comment since I started playing; everybody seems to be playing for the joy of the game rather than to intimidate other players or to bully them like they do on almost every other online game.

I think most of the games fun and playability comes from the teamwork needed to survive; building shelter to fend off hoards of zombies and skeletons and mining different ores to build more weapons and equipment to help you in your survival is much easier when you have a mate to watch your back and save you when you need them to. Best of all the game only cost 240 Microsoft points (around $3) which is a great deal for the time I have spent on this game. Also the fact that it is a sandbox game and therefore endless makes the game that much better, you and your friends play to see how far you can get to get bragging rights. Thinking up a new strategy for survival each time you play is great, depending on how creative you are anyways.

Though the game does have room for improvement on the visuals, sounds and a few other small issues the game is more than worth the ticket price. I am glad I purchased the game and I would recommend you do the same thing.
