When Aria of Sorrow came out in 2003 i didn't pick it up, because i played "Harmony of Dissonance" the year before and "Circle of the Moon" the year before that and it seemed there was a new Castlevania game each year. Also i didn't like the idea of a Castlevania set in the future, so i skipped this one and it's successor "Dawn of Sorrow" for the DS.
Recently however i picked up a second-hand gameboy advance SP "surf blue"-edition, which has backlighting in Europe (model AGS-101). i wanted some games to go with it so i checked some top 10 lists on youtube and one of the games that kept coming up was this one, everybody seemed to love it. So i went out and got it and having finished the game today i must confirm Äria of Sorrow is probably the best Castlevania game on a Nintendo handheld. The graphics rival that of the DS and the gameplay is very addictive and becomes more and more fun as the game progresses and you collect more souls which give you special abilities. Other Castlevanias like "Portrait of Ruin" and Örder of Ecclesia" got repetitive towards the end, but not this one. i'm happy i picked it up after all this time and am already looking forward to "Dawn of Sorrow" which is supposed to be even better.
