Dracula's forces are about to rise once again,this time two friends unite to vanquish his evil on the lands of Europe!
Unlike the other Castlevania titles on other systems,this one looks different in some ways.
The Story : 8/10
1st of all the plot involves two friends,Eric Lecarde,a young man master on the art of spears,lances and partisan weapons,which he accompanies his best pal John Morris....A man who's family had relations with the Belmonts who destroyed Dracula through the generations.
The Belmonts passed the Vampire Killer whip to the morris family and the time has come for John to wield it,with the sacrifice that the whip absorbs his lifeforce,cause of its special magic which only a Belmont supposed to wield.
Anyway a clan of occultists and a woman are about to resurrect the count to rule over Europe, your goal is to travel through 6 different countries in Europe and save it from the Count's minions.
The gameplay : 7/10
As you start on the screen you may set either difficulties,change controls or choose life cauge at option mode.You can put also password if you want to continue from the spot you left.
You start by selecting Eric Lecarde or John Morris.
Eric uses a spear and he's more agile to jumps and doing tricks with the spear.
John is more like the classic vampire hunter and he wields the Vampire Killer whip,while he can do stuff Eric cannot...like hitting enemies while on air,grab with the whip and such,but he's slower on running.
The goal is to travel through 6 stages of European countries including ancient Greek/Atlantis and Versailles/France.
Like all Castlevania games this one also includes secret walls and tricky gameplay.
To succeed you will definetelly try many times while you must learn some patterns to move on several times.
You start at the beginning fighting ghouls devils or every hell you can think of,and at the middle of the stage there are minibosses and at the end there are original bosses.
The graphics : 7.5/10
The graphics are quite good on the 16-bit world of Genesis,the sprites are well pixelated and the backround have classique,goth elements,the graphic processor of Genesis does indeed a good work here, don't expect like Snes,but somethin different which is only for Genesis(that's why this game is different and special of course).
The Music : 9/10
Of course like all Castlevania games also in this one the music is totally awesome...just rock's your mind!
You will find some new soundtracks like "Iron Blue Intention" and "Reincarnated Child" which are totally fit in this game and add more sophisticated way of playing.
The sound effects are almost,but not quite good,but you can will get used to it by time.
Nethertheless the music Rock's classic,baroque and goth style with action elements in it.
You will definetelly love it.
Overall: 7.5/10
This game is great and it should not be missed by none.
If you have a Sega Genesis or you're a Castlevania fan get it or play it.
It's something different to the other titles of the series,and worths the sweat to play it.
The smooth is great for a Castlevania title and the plot is awesome!
The only bad is the difficulty which supports almost hardcore players to beat it.
This game is surely one of the best Genesis games!
