In the words of Richter Belmont, this game will "steal your soul and make it your slave."

User Rating: 9.5 | Castlevania: Symphony of the Night X360
My friends and I may disagree on a lot of things, but when it comes to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, we're unanimously decided upon it being the greatest Castlevania ever made. The game took a familiar, time-honored formula to an entirely new path, and it hasn't been the same since. And it probably never will be the same again. But that isn't such a bad thing now, is it?

I owned the PlayStation game many moons ago, and remember how much FUN I had playing it. I devoted a lot of my summers to playing SOTN over and over again because I either loved the exploration, or just wanted to seek out the things that I missed. As an Arcade download, it retains everything the PlayStation game had, and then some. You're treated to a nice HD update in its graphics, making an already great visual experience even better. And, of course, you can earn achievements! How's that for awesome?

Voice-acting is enjoyably melodramatic--I still think Richter doesn't sound right, but that's just me. All the disgusting bosses, enemies, items, secret rooms and challenges have been ported over for your Alucard-loving pleasure--right down to the last pixel.

If you've played the original game before and have a 360, download it, relive it all over again, earn the achievements, and have yourself a great time. If you haven't, now's your chance to experience what many of us gamers have been raving about as one of the greatest Castlevania adventures ever conceived: if not, THE greatest.
