Not that it's hard to beat out the Castlevania games that were to follow, which were full of failed attempts to bring teh game into 3D worlds, and other such. The graphics were actually very impressive when compared to the generation of consoles (PS, 64). The characters, the story, the levels, all of these elements of the games setting are flawless for the most part.
A must play for the Vania-fans, and anyone who doesn't mind playing a 2D game and owns a Playstation, still. It's as simple as that. There really is nothing wrong with this game other than that it was made almost 9 years ago.
