Why can't they do another one of these on consoles?

I heard about this game many times, but I didn't really believe the hype. A couple years ago, I saw the game for $12 at a flea market, and decided I should buy it.
Wow, was it worth it.

Gameplay: This game proves that 2D gaming was not dead during the PSX era. The game plays like a sidescroller. You fight with a sword, and you can level up. You have many abilities, including transforming into a bat, wolf, or mist, which allow you to visit areas you couldn't get to earlier in the game. There are also 4 different endings, 2 of which entail playing through the entire castle over again, except it is upside down.

Graphics: The PSX wasn't known for its 2D capabilities like the Saturn was. However, this game looks great. The animations are brilliant, and some of the boss designs are amazing.

Sound: This game has an amazing orchestrated soundtrack. It showed us exactly what we could do with disc based consoles.

In short, this is the greatest 2D game on the Playstation, and one of the greatest games ever made. If you find it, you would do well to pick it up.
