Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night (PS1) is one of the best games ever made.

My history with Castlevania is extensive. It all began on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and it started with Castlevania, Castlevania II, and Castlevania III. I did play some of the versions on the original gameboy (yknow, the one with black and green graphics) I also played Super Castlevania on the Super Nintendo. I dont think I played Castlevania on the N64 but, did play what that game wanted to be on the PS2 Lament Of Innocense. The Castlevania games on the Gameboy Advance are superior and I highly advise getting the double pack. Never played Castlevania on the DS (well, much) but, I digress. Oh, and since I am on the subject I never played a single Castlevania on the Sega Genesis.

But, the PS1 masterpiece is a game that will never be forgotten and a game I often revist just for fun. The graphics are to say fitting of the atmosphere in which you level up and roam. The highlight of the game for me though has to be the music. Other than Final Fantasy VII, I cant think of another soundtrack I desire more than this one. So heard are the comparissons to Super Metroid and yknow what? that is not a bad thing as the map equal system is identical and that is a good thing.

As Alucard you possess the ability to turn into a bat, wolf, mist (as you discover these talents) you can also uprgrade your cape, armor, sword, and shield. The bosses are plentiful and the enemies are of good variety.

Some of the stages are pretty eerie and the music does a wonderful job of heightening the feeling you get when you are exploring a dark, forgotten cave, underground waterfalls, time spent in a church, and making your way up the stairs for a certain encounter *wink*

All in all you get a complete package and I still cant believe I found this game for a sale price of $20.00!! I would have paid twice that to add this game to my collection. It is worth its weight in gold but, rate it as PLATINUM. Now, I can say this: this is a MUST PLAY GAME! no matter where your loyalties lie with whatever system you owe it to yourself to play this gem. I really cant think of anything bad to say about this game. It is Perfect! Id like to say thank you to Konami, the artists, and musicians for creating a masterpiece.
