The castlevania series of games have always been great. On the N64, the series took a series hit as the 3D world was given a shot. Thankfully, Konami stuck to its roots on the PSone and left the game in its natural 2D world. This game is terrific. One can not find a better soundtrack outside of a role playing game. The music is not only great, but is completely fitting to every room. The graphics are terrific as well. Lightning crashing, magical animations, and many more eye catching features are spread throughout the game in heaping helpings. Now, let's get on to what makes this game so great: The GAMEPLAY!! This game has a wide open setting. You are playing as Alucard, a descendent of Count Dracula. You are searching his castle to find him (no different than any other Castlevania game). Only this time, you have a massive, open map to explore. The number of enemies and weapons in this game are astonishing. There are litterally hundreds of things to find in this game. Not to give the game away, but once you think you are done, you are only half way!! Not to many games come along that i touch after beating them, but i've made my way through SOTN several times. Do yourself a favor and pick this game up. Not only will you get the best game in the Castlevania series, but you'll be getting one of the best games ever made.
