This review focuses 100% on Chronicles of Dracula X and not the other games added. A move Konami did I believe to Mask the half baked Chronicles game. Konami has yet again made another so-so Castlevania game. This latest addition of Castlevania is designed to pattern a popular PS 2 hit; Contra Shattered Soldier. However though both titles are 3D side-scrolling games one is blessed with beautiful fluid game mechanics and controls while the other is not. Sadly it's Dracula X Chronicles which comes short in the game-play department. The controls are really stiff, slow, and tedious. Which mixes frustration and disbelief to an otherwise would be great game. Even Richter Belmont is amazed on how crappy the controls are when he shouts " WHAAAAAT !!!????" as he is hit by an easy avoidable fireball. Speaking of Richter Belmont, Konami doesn't win any more approval or praise from Castlevania fans when they make a 9yr old girl stronger and with better moves than the main hero of the game. Now let's discuss the sound department. Half of the games sound tracks are actually good with remix of past Castlevania scores. The other half Konami for some reason has this love to add Dance Club music to a Goth themed game. Dance music and Goth just don't immerse gamers Konami. On the point of immersing gamers, the actor for Richter does a real awful job in delivering his lines which made me really cringe. It was just terrible. Graphics in this title are alright nothing stellar. However I have to point out visual effects of enemies being hit or use of sub-weapon look very mundane and really don't look good. Chronicles of Dracula X is a good game but could have been DONE ALOT better on every aspect.
