Very frustrating, and not for the feint of heart.

I got this game for Christmas and gave up after about a week of dedicated play. Because the other two games are locked until the first one is complete, you're stuck playing the one game regardless of how grueling it is -- and it is grueling. This is side-scrolling old school. You remember how gaming was 20 years ago...memorizing every detail of every level simply so you can make it through. Ah, how many quarters did I plug into arcade machines during my day. Nowadays, I'm older and not up to plugging time after time after time through a level. I enjoy a good puzzle game, but this is not what Castlevania is about. Castlevania is about mind-numbing level traversal dozens of time simply to arrive at the boss. The boss kills you and back you go to the beginning again. This was absolutely frustrating. Unless your a big Castlevania fan, rent it first.
