i have never played actual board game of catan.
but soon as i downloaded this trial..i was in love with this game!
first of all:
-the achievements are great
-enemy A.I is also really intelligent

i would also say that this gotta be the best value iv seen on XBLA,
yes some coin-op classics are great but..800 points for catan..SOLD
even the trial is tons of fun,and i playd the trial for about 5-6 hours then i realised..I NEED TO BUY THIS GAME!

if you dont like board games or "re-makes"..i still going to tell you try this out

well what can i say..download the trial!
