Why bother?
When first starting up CM10 there was already an update to download (approx 180mb), even though this game had just been released. Normal intro screens follow and soon afterwards you've chosen your team and your in. The game does look good. The menus are slightly confusing and awkward to navigate but the vibrant "ocean" colour and dynamic changing of backgrounds make it much nicer to look at. The 3d match engine is nothing to get excited about but does play out very well and runs smoothly. Even though there are limited camera angles, each player has a variety of different moves and animations that can keep you entertained for a long time. Changes to your tactics can easily be done as well.
It does play very similar to FM09, so for me it was very easy to play. They clearly were intent on targeting the FM fans and on first impressions it does fool you into thinking this looks like a great game. However...
.....there's no fooling us original fans of the CM/FM series. You can try copying a winning formula but you will always be one step behind the best. Eidos have added nothing special to this game apart from some nice visuals and sound effects, everything which FM was lacking. As much as the gameplay is identical to FM09, it still doesnt have the same feel to its rival and you get the sense that the developers had tried to hard.
I would say this game is worth a shot if you can buy it for cheap but the numerous bugs and problems within CM10 make the game unplayable. Once the new FM is released then CM10 will be long forgotten about......Try again next year Eidos.
