To be comparing this game with Capcom's Devil May Cry (DMC) simply will not do it justice. Though both games are similar in some manner, one cannot say that they are from the same idea or origin. CL(Chaos Legion)may look the same as DMC in terms of its gothic era gaming environment with high rise corrugated looking buildings , and the character design is more or less reliant on the now-popular "look-cool and walk-cool" concept. However, one point worth noting is that CL has employed a relatively fresh gaming concept of AI companions, where you can summon Legions to aid you in a fight. I think most people would agree that more often the element of a GROUP is neglected in many a games, and players are loners most of the time. I am sure there are players out there who would like to have battle companions and party members to adventure along with. This not only adds spice to the game, but it also lures you into a Co-operative mood where you no longer senselessly hack and slash you way through the levels ( sometimes without realising what is going on ) This is the compartment where CL has made a major impact. Players have to decide carefully on what Legions that will be useful to them in a particular stage, because, though you have 7 legions to choose from, you can only bring a maximum of 2 legions in a stage . Make a wrong decision and you will be scratching your head for the next level. Graphics are detailed and well programmed, but the drawback is that sometimes the screen will get so overwhelmed by monsters and blazes of light that you will get a feeling of senseless violence. This game is based on a stage completion concept where you finish each stage battling through minions and then at the end you have to face a boss. Another thing is that after a while players will get this feeling of repetition because the hero in this game basically hacks and slashes in the same manner and there is not much of variation in attack moves. In the game, the designers have managed to incorporate a "Save your retry option" which I find very useful. After a particular scene where you failed to get through , the game will have this pop up asking you to save your retry , so that the next time you restart the console you can resume exactly from that point which you failed to get through. If you have played Capcom's DMC, maybe you should try this one out ... and you will be wondering what IF there is a crossover between DMC and CL ? hmmm , interesting right ?
