Chip's Challenge is just brilliant. There's no words to describe how good this game was and still is. First time I played it when I was 4, still play it as of this day. It's simple graphics and challenging levels are still intact and it makes you wonder how you became so addicted to a game that looks so outdated in today's world. That however doesn't lower the excellent gameplay in Chip's Challenge and you'll still be having great fun with it.

Chip's Challenge put you in the role of Chip, a computer nerd who is willing to do anything to get into Melinda's computer club The Bit Busters. So Melinda gives Chip one option to join. If he can get through her clubhouse of challenging levels to the end she'll allow him to join. Will Chip make it?

So the gameplay in Chip's Challenge. It's simple, a large part on what makes the game successful. You control Chip by using the arrow keys on your keyboard or clicking a square with the mouse button. You must navigate Chip through 144 levels which start off really easy and get difficult fast. This includes picking up all the computer chips to allow Chip to pass sockets, avoiding monsters with different movement patterns, pushing blocks into the water, and clicking on switches. Boots are also obtainable to allow Chip to pass certain materials. However, there are plenty of more hazards and useful objects Chip can use in the game.
Make no mistake, this is no cakewalk for the average player, but many levels offer hints to help you breeze or pass various levels to reach you closer to the end. Each level the player must reach a spirally exit square to proceed to the next level. You are timed on about 80% of the levels and the faster you beat it the better the score you get. If you are a gamer who likes to get the highest scores possible then I'd suggest you play Chip's Challenge for that, but getting the best times (As experienced players call it "BOLD times") is not always as easy as it sounds. Most likely you'll get frustrated, or take hundreds of tries doing this.

This suggests that Chip's Challenge is a very long game. With 144 levels and a few secret ones, Chip's Challenge offers a near infinite replay value on this alone. However, a huge fanbase of the game still exists as of this day of writing and they continue to post high score times, make programs for the game, and there's even a level editor to allow players to make their own levels for the game. This game has got to have the easiest level editor ever! You just click on a tile piece you want to use in the game and click where you want it in your level. You can make up to 999 levels in a pack and there's just so much you can do with it!

Don't let the simple graphics and the old midi tunes in the game let you walk away from having a go. Chip's Challenge is a superb game which is a game defining "addiction and simplicity "and I honestly think this is one of the best games ever and one of the biggest timewasters of all-time. As of this writing, the creator is trying to release Chip's Challenge 2, and I hope one day it does happen. Gamers, have a go on this, you can get it off the internet and play it on any computer. Trust me, it'll be worth trying!
