First let me credit all the companies involved for finally bringing a ChoroQ game to the U.S. so thank you Atlus,Takara, TomMo and Sony. At first glace ChoroQ looks like a simple yet kiddy racing game. Well think again! ChoroQ features more game elements then you can shake a stick at. Some of those elements include RPG, Adventure, Action and of course racing. The game starts out and like sort of resembles “Animal crossing” for the Game Cube but instead of animals everyone is a car (that’s right a world where cars are alive!) and you get to pick what you look like (body and color). You move into town to a small “garage” and you need money to buy parts to make you a better racer (first and foremost, this is a racing game). You have many ways of making money, the first way is the obvious way, to race, win or lose there is a payoff, 1st 2nd and 3rd pay the most as you’d expect. The second way is to drive around doing favors for your neighbors and the third way is to do “part time jobs” (minigames) Once you have money you can start customizing your car (yourself) add parts that make you go faster, accelerate more, brake better, float on water, make you tougher or even just look cool! There are so many customizing options for your car (you) it’s amazing…. and you will need multiple parts later for different courses so keep that in mind. Onece you get good enough (come in as one of the first three in all the Holiday Cups) all you get the option of trying out for a team, you only have 2 options even though there are 3 teams, Sovass is a little hard to try out for, they have a hard time to beat, Ranolfka on the other hand is an easy tryout, no way to mess up the time there. Once you have a team you can enter the GP and command your team to victory! So now that the bulk is covered lets cover the minor stuff, the fact is you run out of space in your garage, so pay the reconstructors to build a bigger one! You can’t beat a certain race or minigame, wait until new parts come along and try again. You want to play the story with friends, you CAN do this but in the “Animal Crossing” way you alternate and your info s stored on a bulletin board and you can exchange or give items and money to eachother. There are also modes besides story and they are….. Quick race, Similar to an arcade mode of most other racing games. Pick yourself a course, a car and race. 2P Battle, Essentially a VS. mode to race against a friend. You can import your cars from story mode. Minigames, Play a number of fun minigames against a friend. Again you can import your cars from story mode. And like all games an option menu. Big whoop. So here are 3 pros and 3 cons PROS 1. very fun and addictive 2. lots and lots of customization 3. perfect game for all ages CONS 1. at times slightly tedious 2. the taunt windows get in the way of seeing sometimes 3. cutesy looking cars may scare away gamers who think the are to grown up for such things.
