This is an excellent game. I'm sure if you're reading this you can tell that from all the high scores it has been getting. However, this game is not perfect; there are 2 elements that taint this masterpiece - the characters and the end. First off, let me start by agreeing with everyone else about the rest of the game. The battle system is nothing short of brilliant. It doesn't let you just level up and destroy everyone, which keeps the game interesting and challenging throughout. Also, the amount of planning and strategy involved is truly inspired - you'll find yourself planning out the next 6 moves ahead of time in order to defeat your foes. The graphics are wonderful. The movie at the beginning of the game is astonishingly gorgeous. Also, the special moves in the game look great, and the characters themselves are highly detailed. The sound is also excellent, with great music that I hummed for hours after hearing it, and satisfying sound effects related to attacks. Now for the bad. There is an enormous amount of characters in this game. GameSpot insists that each character brings something to the story and you will want to seek all of them out. Perhaps they do add slightly to the story, but I found myself playing with the same set of characters as much as possible. There were many times when I got a new character and thought to myself "why did I get this character?" Plus, if you keep switching who your main characters are throughout the game, the difficulty will increase, since the only way to "level up" is to beat bosses. That aside, the thing that really made me mad about this game was its ending. I won't spoil it for those who have yet to beat it, but it's a complete let down. After so many hours working through the game, building up so many questions, and developing such a great story, you are rewarded with a 5 minute intense reading session where all is explained. It's fast, and anti-climactic. Plus, the final movie wasn't at all stirring. In general, this game is amazing and well worth playing. If you have the desire for tons of characters and don't mind the ending, then good for you - this game is pretty much a 10 for you. Otherwise, a 9.7 will have to do.
