This is no great epic RPG like some reviewers will have you believe.

User Rating: 6.5 | Chrono Cross (PSOne Books) PS
Why not, you ask? Well, because all the characters suck. There is very little story on them and there are crap loads of them. Which does explain why there is little background on all of the. So they sacrificed Quality for Quantity. Ok, well you still got the main character right? WRONG! Like Crono Serge doesn't talk. I didn't mind that Crono didn't talk because at least the other characters were good. These characters are not. Look at your epic RPGs, all have great indepth characters. Not this game. So the rest of the story? The rest of the story is fine I guess but who really cares when character development has been botched? I sure as hell don't.

On to Gameplay....it sucks. Pyschically attacking you have choices of how accurate and how powerful your attacks are. Thats fine. But you need to build up energy to use spells and such and theres this color of the field which you can change by using different color spells and.... screw that. All I want is "attack" "black magic" "white magic" "item" it's simple but it works. This, does not. You can't even use spells out of battle, you have to waste items or what this game likes to call "consumables."

So what makes this game not suck? Well, the storyline not counting the characters is ok. The world map song is really pretty. The world itself is also pretty ok. Oh and a lot of characters equal a lot of cool character portraits. HA! Buuut thats about it. I wouldn't waste my time on this if I were you. If you havn't played FF7,FF8, FF9, FF6, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, FFX, or Suikoden 3 I suggest you play those RPGs before this. Some of you may say "but suikoden 3 has a lot of characters too" and its true but it does it sooooo much better than chrono cross does. And the storyline is also soooo much better and the characters are sooooo much better and the world is sooooo much better and the battle system...isnt as annoying. Anyways, dont bother with this game.
