Chrono Cross defies several rpg sequel mainstays to present us with a game that is as timeless as the story it tells.

Chrono Cross is my favorite game of all time. I've played many others before it, and I've played many, many others after it. But I still keep coming back to it, for it's wonderful story, pleasing grphics, heart-rending music, and incredible gameplay. Ok, on to the meat of the subject. The Story is by far, one of the greatest ever told by Square. The tale of a boy who was supposed to die, and the friend he didn't know he had that wanted him to live, is very moving. All through the journey, Serge will find characters who will join him for a variety of reasons, and don't get lost in the shuffle. Each one is there for a reason. And then there's Kid, who is there for a very special reason, but i don't want to spoil that for anyone. The graphics were and can be argued, still are, some of the best the PSOne ever put out. I still remember getting into the first battle and just Looking at the sea and beach in the background..it was beautiful. Each character was totally different in the way they looked..sometimes, Very different. The clouds rolled, the wind blue, the grass swayed..it was great. The Gameplay is really cool, because they didn't just do a 'it's a sequel, same-engine'that a Lot of sequels use. They came up with a brand new combat engine..one that fit each character perfectly. And left lots of options for customisation and exploration. My only really ver minor quibble was that you can only 'transfer' at one spot, but then the game helped me understand why that was so. The Music is just awesome. My favorite tracks are 'Scars of Time' and, of course, 'Star Stealing Girl'. diffent wepons everybody uses in battle actually sound like what they would sound like. wood thumps. metal clangs. and then there's Nikki's Guitar...lol The replay value is huge, because it has the same kind of 'multiple endings' system that Chrono Trigger has. plus, there are definate pluses to starting a clear game... I would recommend this game to anyone that's currently breathing.
