Who knew an over ten-year-old game could still bring thrills?

User Rating: 9.5 | Chrono Trigger DS
What I liked: Pretty much the whole game. It isn't too complicated, isn't very linear, you can end the game multiple ways, the new monster arena is kinda neat, the fmv sequences add emotion and depth to the game that you just can't do with tiny sprite animations. And unlike most RPGs, Chrono Trigger doesn't rely heavily on grinding to make the total hours you play staggering. It's the story development, the fairly well fleshed out characters, the humor that breaks up the pace at the right times, and the tech system that makes this game cause hours to fly by without you noticing.

The not so great: Eh well the music score is awesome, but it can be a bit repetitive. The way the background is laid out makes it a bit hard to determine where to get on some paths, but that is not really much of a problem once u get used to it. The DS controls, in my opinion, are unnecessary and annoying to use at times. Like when I have to set my stylus aside for 90% of the actions and movement but I can't put it back in it's hole because I will need to use it for one little thing here or there. Possible I just suck at using the stylus though. :)

Other thoughts: This is a great game, even after so many years. Get a copy, play it, relive it :)
