Had high hopes but was extremely letdown by its strange controls and structure. Alyssa (and Bates) were great though!

After really falling in love with Clock Tower 3, I thought I would go back in time and try out this one. The only way I could have possibly been more disappointed is if I had completely hated the main character(s).
The only bright spot in this game would have to be the characters. Alyssa and her psychotic alter ego, Bates are wonderful characters. I would have loved to have gotten to see how things turned with those two. In fact, they are the only reason I gave this game the higher score I did! JUST THEM.
If only the story structure was not so...uninspired and difficult. It took me forever to even get to the second stage. I kept getting this cutscene where I was just killed and then THE END. I had to keep starting over to figure out what I had done wrong. It was extremely frustrating.
If it only had the play mechanics that part 3 had. Unfortunately The Struggle Within was just a complete waste of not only a great main character, but a good cast of supporting characters, spooky atmosphere, and storyline.
