I suspect that this game would have rated at least a click (or two) higher on most everyone's scale.... Had it come out 2 months BEFORE Resident Evil 4... Instead of after. That's as simple as it gets folks. The controls are certainly passable. Though a movable camera on the right stick in normal mode would have been nice... It doesn't make / break it. Periodically, the camera flipping angles in normal mode (by itself) gets you turned around momentarily. Not a big deal unless a walking cadaver is tyring to cave in your skull with a monkey wrench. The graphics are good, and the technical attributes are pretty tight. Especially with the movement of the environment on the ship. It's not that noticeable inside. Sound is good overall, and the voice acting is acceptable. Not great, but acceptable. The scares and grisly, gritty atmosphere of the game is well done... But it seems to get a bit flat in areas... And comes across contrived. The story is unique... to a certain extent. But then once the details are flushed out, it's a bit of been there, done that. Doesn't harm the overall experience, regardless. It's a good looking, good sounding game overall... With adequate controls and a relatively solid (slightly tired) story line. But the apparent arbitrary nature of the game-saving system (some closely spaced, while others are far apart... without check points) seems kludgey. For the most part, it doesn't create a problem... But under the right circumstances, you can find it pretty inconvenient to say the least. All that considered... Had the game set the pace by coming out 2 months prior, then there wouldn't have been a RE4 to compare it to. But that's not how works, is it? Nope... Once someone sets the bar, you've got to clear it. This game comes damn close... But no (9.x) cigaro.
Let me spell it out for you, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! IT IS NO RESIDENT EVIL 4, nor does it come close to Resident Evil 4’s quality! Cold fear simply is not game to buy. With a game like Resident Evil 4 on the market, it’s ... Read Full Review
