Ubi Soft published something other than Prince Of Persia...... What can you expect?

User Rating: 5.5 | Cold Fear PS2
Cold Fear....

The game the has all the right stuff a gamer needs but then, it's a little too monotonous. Gamers have had much experience with Survivor Horrors and action, shotgun in your face category fame..... Alone in the Dark, Resident Evil and Silent Hill; well known titles no doubt, but then, Cold Fear. Whats wrong you might ask? Well all the answers are right here........

You start off as a Coast Gaurd who infiltrates a science team's vessel in the middle of a storm..... You get to pull the trigger instantly...... Shooting humans and eventually taking on zombie like creatures that have been sprawling on the survivor horror land for more than a decade.....However, the action doesn't end there. We've got the body snatchers from Half Life making a cameo appearence on the gaming screen again. Eventually, there is the late entry of the rest of the ghouling cast towards the end of the game.....
You get to escort a lady whose father was heading the "Terrible research expedition gone wrong"......
Now it's upto the Coast Gaurd to end this monster invasion that could end the world......Talk about being Rambo and the Terminator at the same time! Apart from the monotonous action that you thought was the last you've seen when you played Suikoden 3, there is the dissapointing feature of "puzzles"..... that is if you categorize dodging lasers and pushing buttons as puzzle solving. Good luck gamers!

Anyways the game handels well Visually. The textures do well here and the graphics are considerably satisfying. Character designing is quite remarkable but the monsters in the game do not appeal to the average gamer. CG sequences add a little flavor to the storyline but in the end of the day, the player would be left scratching his head in disblief because there wouldn't be an answer to any questions that were risen in the game!

The Sound department does well. Offering great scores for different areas in the game. However, sometimes it feels as if there could have been better but in Ubi Soft's case, "Be greatful for what you get"!
The Voice casting was not convincing. Seems like the developers didn't have enough financial reserves to back the characters up with good voice overs. This is never the less a drawback in hindsight.

The value of such a game is usually reffered to as RENT WORTHY! Not only do you get upset at the game itself, but then you're absolutely pissed because you spent a minimum 40$ for piece junk like this. Not only does it lack replay value but it offers game "ART". Yes, it's appaling! The feature is treated like a master piece of Leonardo Di Vinci himself. It's like a flush of Mona Lisas and the Screams.
After playing this game, you wouldn't help but saying sarcasticly that this was the Best Game on the planet.
The next time you hear one of your friends say that Japanese games suck and American games rule, do not and I mean, do not hesitate to hand a copy of this game on his birthday, because this will surely shut him/her up for two weeks atleast.
