Gory, Gory Fun!
User Rating: 8.6 | Cold Winter PS2
If you have been looking for a good, bloody, gory FPS for the PS2 you should look no further than 'Cold Winter'. The newest game from Sierra hold back nothing and gives you no breaks as it decimates most of its FPS competition on the PS2. The game style, for those who have played it, is much more like 'Soldier of Fortune' than anything else on the Playstation. Lets start in the graphics and gameplay department. The games strongest point is its gameplay, which is very easy to get the hang of and if used correctly can be quite fun. The problem is the graphics, while not bad, they are certainly not good either. You could do much better, yes even on the PS2, but you could also do a lot worse as well. The sound is more grainy than it should or needs to be, during cutscences we feel as if the lead character is constantly talking into a walkie-talkie and we are at the other end listening to it. While the in-game sound is not near as bad it can be a tad boring at times, but decent none the less. (espically when you blow off another persons limb) Overall the game is a welcome addition to any person who has been searching for an FPS for there PS2. Next to 'Killzone' this has to be the most fun I've ever had playing a PS2 FPS.
