CMR 2005 is the best rallying game I have played to date, it is significantly better than rallying on GT4 and is better than RalliSport Challenge 2. The gameplay is excellent, for beginners to the series I recommend starting with normal difficulty with career mode, and after you get accustomed to the game, I suggest you start an advanced difficulty career. The reason why is, the normal difficulty gets incredibly easy once you start getting accustomed to the game. In the final championship in career mode, I had a 1 minute lead at the end of every rally. The advanced difficulty is a little harder, but it begins to get easier. My major complaint about the game is the cars. The Ford Focus is even worse since it is the first Focus rally car (introduced at the Geneva Motorshow in 1999), and the other 4wd cars are either old or the wrong model. One for example is the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII rally car, which is paired up with all the "WRC" cars, but it is a Production WRC car. My other complaint is the sound. Probably the closest to real sounding car is the Xsara. Both the Mitsubishi Shogun Montero and the Renault Clio sound the same in the game, but in real life they sound very different. Almost all the cars don't sound like they should...
I would recommend this game to any rally enthusiast that only has an Xbox to play games. If you have a PC I suggest you get Richard Burns Rally. Although it is kind of old, there is mods available, such as new cars and real sounds that can make the game experience a whole lot better.
