"N64 and Command & Conquer: Hell yeah!!!!"
Just last night I found myself re-playing the Special Ops 1 mission here for this game from like 10 PM to 130 AM, I could not seem to put the controller down! Ha ha! This game will do that to you! I had won this particular level tons of times before (with one truly embarrasing defeat too) and last night I was well on my way to victory once again!
Well my forces went for the jugular by attacking the NOD's airstrip with 4 med tanks, one Mammoth tank and two APC's. BAD idea! The NOD'sters counter-attacked with like 5 Light tanks, two Flame tanks, two stealth tanks, 5 recon bikes and some flame troops. Needless to say my force got completely wiped out and even an Orca I had sent to assist got shot to hell too! I got careless and had NO armor in reserve by my base, nor APC's, or Hummers either! Just lots of infantry (grenadiers, bazookas, mini-gunners) behind walls of sandbags and ONE concrete wall with one tank and two Adv guard towers! The NOD forces ambushed one of my 2 Harvesters, killing it and proceeded onto my base! Had they gone from the east I had nothing but some mini gunners and some guard towers but no armor! They would have flanked me bad! Instead the AI chose to go right for the chokepoint I set up with the concrete defense and the 2 AGT's! Well after much grenade lobbing and rockets firing, my defense held and the NOD attack was held off! I thought "Damn I was about to LOSE right there!" No armor= Defeat in this game! I had to slowly rebuild my armor force from scratch and take out the airstrip later with an airstrike. After their initial armored thrust, the NOD forces were weaker and were later destroyed by my re-constituted Tank force! *Whew!* It was literally a "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory" moment for a while there.
As you can see I had a great fun time last night with this game, and this is in the era of killer games like "Empire at War" and "BF2"! Get this game!
