I never limit my score for a game, because some games earn a 10 and this is one of those.
I'm not really a fan of horror games, they're just too scary for me I guess, I can't play them. Though I knew this one is horror, I still picked it up. But this game was different.. It had something that kept me playing. I couldn't stop. The atmosphere was so realistic that it made me feel what it's like to be in the shoes of a Serial Crimes Unit. If I was Thomas Ethan, I'd quit my day job. :D
The plot wouldn't be so interesting if it wasn't the mystery.
In the game you are accused for a murder of two police officers and you have no choice but to chase the killer and prove you're innocent. And as if that wasn't enough, something unexplainable is happening in the whole city and it is up to you to find that out.
When I started playing it, I thought "Damn, I hate old dark buildings". After some time I was like "I LOVE old dark buildings, bring them back! Let me out of here!".
I never liked going to school, but not as much as in this game. It makes you fear places you visit everyday - Library, store, school.
I could speak about it whole day, because there is much to talk about and much to discuss, as I didn't play the sequel, but after all, if you want to grow some balls, take this 10 hour challenge and fight your way through a horde of drug addicts.
The Good:
* Graphics are great even today, ofcourse there are some small-sized textures but they don't ruin the view
* Melee combat is very realistic and satisfying
* Atmosphere is perfect, the sound of some guy above you will make you look at your ceiling
* The story is good, it takes turns you wouldn't expect and even in the end there are some questions left unanswered

I really can't find anything wrong with this game. It has earned a place in my top 3.
