A little sloppy, but not too bad to play.

User Rating: 7.1 | Conflict: Desert Storm PS2
Conflict: Desert Storm isn't the best war game no doubt, but it's worth playing if you're into the genre.

There is definitely some sloppiness in this game. The controls are a little slow and clunky, and there's no peeking around corners. On one level, WALLS were shooting at me. That's right, WALLS. I'm assuming there were enemies behind those walls that I couldn't get to or see, but bullets were just flying toward me from the walls. Enemy tanks are almighty. You can be behind a wall, and they will shoot the other side of the wall & your whole team will die, while the wall itself is undamaged. I like that this game was based on Desert Storm, most war games are WW2 or Vietnam, or a fictional war. However, since this was realistically based, I would have preferred more realistic gameplay. Instead of a team of Rambos killing hundreds and hundreds of Iraqis, it would have been better if it was more tactical based. The way it is, it's more of a shooter than a tactical team based game. Overall though, the missions are fairly interesting. Character development is a plus. The weapons are fairly good. Graphics and sound are acceptable. Although this isn't the best game in the genre, it can be found really cheap, so if it catches your interest at all, you might as well pick it up. I would say Gamespot under-rated this game, and the player score of 6.9 is more accurate.
