Great military game, tactical team shooter
The gameplay was pretty good, with a few dislikes. Mainly the controls and a few other things that weren't too bad throughout the game. I enjoyed the Video's leading into each mission, although they were a little heavy on cursing. But, they are in the middle of Vietnam, so cursing is to be expected. Though sometimes, it was a bit over the top. I'm guessing it was just his role, and adding a sense of uniqueness to that particular character. The missions were just the right mix. Some of them were just run in with guns blazing and making sure everyone stayed healed up enough, but others were very tactical in which you had to make sure a certain party member stayed alive, or the entire group stayed alive and using your command skills, meant your survival or your almost instant death. The weapon selection throughout the game was very authentic, and was equipped with weapons you would only find during that era, so they got a plus on that. I'm not going to spoil the mission for anyone, but for a certain level near the end, the video leading into it is just plain funny as could be. I had to take a minute or two to regain my stature from laughing so hard before I could even begin the mission. The game was shorter then I expected, but still it will take sometime to complete due to the fact that I highly doubt you will complete every mission on the first try. And in that since, it made the game just long enough. And it never got that stale feeling in any mission or anywhere during the game such as, is this mission ever going to be over, or is this game ever going to be over. So it was well balanced in that department, another plus.
I also liked the fact that you didn't play just one role throughout the game, and you could switch between anyone of the 4 man group at any time that you wished. It comes in handy when you want to do something by yourself, instead of commanding them to do it, and you have to use that character because that's what they are good at doing.
The only complaint I had, but it was to be expected playing the game on its hardest setting was the fact that the enemies bullets did about 3 times as much damage as your bullets did to them. My suggestion, even though I couldn't tell if it had an affect or not really, is to take leave auto-aim on, and when it goes to an enemy pull up and aim for a headshot. Sometimes they would fall in one shot, other times it took 2 or even 3 shots. This I'm unclear on, as there is no blood splatter, so I couldn't tell if I was just missing, or the bullets didn't have much affect.
Another vital thing to remember is throughout each level, make sure that you keep going through each of your men and making sure they have weapons and ammo, if you notice them getting low try to find some laying on the ground, or switching weapons for them, if you notice a lot of that certain type of ammo lying around. I say this becuase at one particular mission I was having trouble beating it because my men kept getting hit and running out of health, and then I would die trying to heal all 3 of them to get them back into the game, and I would die in the process. Well after three tries of the level, I decided to be one of the men who kept falling first, and that's when I realized, he kept dying because he had no ammo for his weapons, and the same went for the other two. So make sure you always check all your men to keep them ammo'd up.
Overall, the game met my expectations and I had a good time taking it on. This is definately a game I can see myself playing again, even though it's not the type of game where you missed something huge the first time around that could be very beneficial to you. It's just a fun tactical game, and I enjoyed it. Other then the awkward controls that you had to learn, this game was great material all around aside from the graphics that I thought could have been better, but they made do.
