In this third installation of the Conflict series you will find a lot of things you have already come to love from the previous titles, especially regarding gameplay. The first two titles did not receive the review scores that I think they deserved and I have a feeling it's going to be the same with CV. It seems that you either love or hate the Conflict series, however pretty much everyone that I talked to ( people between the age of 20 to 40 years ) really enjoyed the first two games. So, you get more of what you already know in CV with some very nice additions and improvements. The gameplay has been improved with the addition of context sensitive orders which is helpfull to reduce micromanagement of inventory and gives the player more options with less effort, such as ordering a teammate to patch up a wounded soldier. Another extremely nice touch is the manual allocation of experience points to improve skills. How points are earned is much more transparent, you will see how you get rewarded for what action and there is a real incentive not to go MIA since the game will detract points for that. Graphics have been improved slightly, the environments especially look very nice. The sound puts you right inside the environment, you will also find character specific reactions to combat situations ( seems Hoss is sometimes on the edge of loosing it ) and of course the sound track is superb, you can still use a custom sound track as well. CV, just like the two Desert Storm titles, is extremely immersive bordering sometimes on a feeling of paranoia, expecting a hard to spot enemy or one of the many booby traps just around the next corner. The addition of gunsights, that can be turned off, give more realism to the game as well as the way bullets are graphically represented. This game is certainly harder than the previous two, but still it finds the right balance between being challenging and not frustrating. I think it's an exellent game and with a slightly lower price tag a certain buy.
So I wasn't expecting too much when I put this game in and I got even less than I expected. I knew I was in for a bad game not 10 minutes into the game during a cut scene, when a sergent is ordering his troops to be qui... Read Full Review
