Context Sensitive Pads, enough said.

Conker's BFD is a genre all its own. The one aspect that really sets it apart from other platformers are two things:

Context sensitive pads. These little pads are scattered throughout the game. Each one gives you a certain power-up, ability, weapon, etc. that will assist you in that specific point in the game. There is a brief set of directions before you use it and you're good to go. What's great about these things is they enable you to use a wide range of abilities and weapons, but not have to carry them through the game with you, which is a great change from some other games in which you need to cycle through several weapons and learn button combinations to do certain moves.

And secondly, there are no collectibles, coins, bolts, or anything else that would otherwise be considered garbage in the real world. We all know how tedious and ultimately pointless collecting things can be in a platformer, and Rare completely eliminates that aspect from this game to give you nothing but solid gameplay and, oh yeah, the cut scenes.

The cutscenes in this game are great, sprinkled with dozens of great movie references that also influence certain missions. The Matrix, Saving Private Ryan and Alien are just a few of the movies that are referenced and emulated through the gameplay in Conker's BFD, and if you are a fan of movies, killing things and sometimes obscene but always hilarious objectives, this game is definately for you.
