Contra is a fun,challenging game that is decent to say the least. But i want the NES version.
But we didn't want the Arcade version.
The gameplay if contra has been relatively untouched. It's still the same run,shoot, and platform gameplay we love. And also we still have the tunnel running levels,which seem better then the nes version. So it is pretty fun.
although Contra is fun,it is pretty difficult. No wait VERY difficult. Contra is pretty
much more challenging then the nes version. Maybe due to the fact that it is a short game. It's still the same "one hit and you are dead" gameplay.
Boss fight are not that hard. But once you get near the end,it range's near the impossible level,and you are gonna need a buddy to help.
But i will touch the co-op soon.
The length in Contra is pretty sad,and is one of the downfall's of the game.
IF you do complete the game it most likely take under 12 minutes.
But this is an arcade game from the 80's,and was made to suck up
quarters. But the length is unacceptable.
The control's in Contra are weird to say the least and are not what you expect. But once you get use to it,it's smooth sailing.
Co-op in Contra is a drag. On Xbox live the game tends to lag
and most if not all the time,nobody is playing the game.
And the camera is bad during co-op.
Story wise there is nothing to talk about.
The story is that Bill and Lance (The protagonist's) are
fighting this alien terrorist group called "The red falcon".
Music wise,Contra has the same music from the nes game.
But is remix and doesn't sound like 8-bit. So the music is an
improvement over the nes game.
Graphics wise,i found contra to look better on the nes. The Arcade version is too colorful,the animation are poor and what's
with the color changing background?
Overall Contra is a pretty fun game. But if you don't want a frustrating game,i recommend you avoid it.
But if you are a Contra fan or want a challenge.
Contra on the Xbox live arcade fits the bill. Thanks for reading.
