This Is a Game About.... Corvettes...

User Rating: 4 | Corvette PS2
Racing Corvettes spanning the 50 years (1953-2003) sounds simple for a video game, but the bland presentation quality and dull gameplay will make you wish you were driving a real corvette instead. The graphics do look good for a PS2 game. Arcade races allow you to race against 4 other opponents plus the last race being a one-on-one while the cops are chasing you. Yes there are cops in this game, but the cop chases make you wish you were playing need for speed instead. You can zip by a cop car and they make little to no effort to try and catch up with you. You could just take a nearby shortcut and they will just give up and try again later in the race. If they touch you a certain amount of times, you will be "arrested" and you will automatically lose the race. Career mode pits you in the same manner as the arcade mode, but with slightly less tracks and you do get upgrades along the way. The upgrades do little to nothing to improve your performance on the track. The controls are subpar as just a minor slipup could cause you to swerve all over the track and the AI can act dumb sometimes as one could unintentionally perform a PIT manuever on you if you're not on your guard. There's also special races such as the mother road endurance, for example. The music is okay, but you'll hear a certain song loop over and over again on the track. To sum up, Corvette on the PS2 is a dull representation of the Corvette and makes you wih you were driving a real one.
