Crackdown suffers from several shortcomings, not the least of which is a complete lack of mission variety

After playing grand theft auto 4, I fell in love with the sandbox-style videogame genre. I turned this love into a purchase of saints row 2 which was good as well (in my opinion). The same year sr2 came out, i decided to buy crackdown and during the first mission in crackdown, I was having fun. Until I played the next couple of mission and then I found out you do the same thing over and over and over and over again which is kill bosses. Gta 4 has mission variety but crackdown has none. Another thing crackdown is lacking in is that it has no story at all. Your a cop with superpowers you drive around killing people and that's it. Talk about stupid. And many have argued that the lack of story doesn't matter because you have a wide city to explore. And while it is true that driving around the city and blowing stuff up around the city is fun, how much fun can that last for really? An hour? Maybe two? I'm not paying $60 to drive a car. I can do that every day on my way to work. Despite this I will say the powers you get are incredibly fun to use and the graphics and driving are solid; however wih no story, lack of mission variety, and the main campain you do have being able to be beaten in 5 or 6 hours, the driving and blowing stuff up just has an overall sense of disapointment that crackdown really could have been so much more.
