Crash's Party Game Is Pretty Good
Unfortunately, while Crash Bash is a fun game if you're into party games (and believe me, I am) its graphics are extremely unsatisfactory and the characters look like cubes with a color pallete added. The mini games are all fun, but some of them are frustrating and overly difficult. In order to satisfy the people who complain about CG characters not putting up a good fight Eurocom overdid the AI levels, so other characters are too smart, meaning you always feel like you're fighting friends, which can sometimes get frustrating.
Crash Bash has a vide variety of mini games and they're all fun, but some of the controls would feel a lot more comfortable if they were re-arranged to better suit what people are used to. Like the Crash Dash games have you pressing R1 to accelerate, when it would be better to either controll it's movement with the LEFT ANALOG STICK or X. CIRCLE should be the speed boost button and SQUARE should launch weapons. In the 2nd boss, the Bearmanator, to hurt him, you have to shoot him with missiles, but sometimes you'll miss your shot because the crosshair just won't stay still. The game's timing is cut down to 1 minute and 30 seconds and this won't bother you most of the time, but if they'd allowed for more game time in trophy mode, maybe the gems wouldn't be killer difficult to get.
Each level presents 5 different ways of playing (1 at the start, then two more, and eventually you unlock the relic challenges). Trophy, gem, crystal, gold relic, and platinum relic. Once you collect all 5 from each arena, it has been completed to its fullest. Of course, I believe you have to defeat Oxide at the end before you can unlock the relic challenges. The game is Crash's first and only, so far, to present multiple endings, as you get a different ending depending on whether you're playing for good or evil. Fortunately, the game is not affected by what side you choose. It's the same no matter what.
One of the worst things about Crash Bash is that, from the 2nd boss on, you HAVE to have a certain number of trophies, crystals, and gems, which means you HAVE to go back to other levels and collect the other valuables. As far as I know, you don't get anything special for collecting everything (no 100% ending, no extra characters, or special mini games) and so that makes it all the worse that you have to collect these things because you really don't get anything for it unless I'm missing something. Fortunately tjhe bosses are fun, so you kind of feel like collecting those things are worth it.
Again, the difficulty provides most of the problem, so the only thing you'll really have to deal with (unless you're picky about how interesting the storyline is and how much extra stuff and secrets there are) is how much screaming you'll probably do. The game is a great multiplayer for adults with mature tempers, but children should run far and fast especially if they cry over games. I know I have.
