For some reason, this game just doesn't feel right.
User Rating: 6.6 | Crash Twinsanity PS2
Crash Bandicoot has been known by many gamers as the Playstation's mascot. From the time the first game came out, a lot of people knew his name. One of his latest games is Crash Twinsanity. The story is this: Crash Bandicoot is relaxing on the beach one day when suddenly, his sister Coco (who is really Dr. Cortex 'in disguise') asks for his help. Well, when Crash does go to see what the problem is, he is attacked by Dr. Cortex and a giant robotic bandicoot! After the battle, Crash and Cortex run into two twins who are bend on destroying the Earth. Well, Cortex has no choice but to team up with Crash in hope of stopping them. That is when the game begins. First off, some gameplay has changed, for example, instead of Crash's populer Death Tornado, all he does is smack around enemies with Cortex. This game mimics the game "Whiplash" since it is bent on two unlikely teammates with one of them tormenting the other. Unfortunately, it doesn't do the game any good and leaves behind a sense of lagging in the story. There are some pretty funny cinematics, but it is pretty rare if someone is able to laugh constantly. You might get a chuckle or two out of the game's humor. A new thing that added to this game is a new free-roaming large environment, which can drive some people to do some pretty pathetic mistakes, like accidentally do a level for the second time or just become completely lost. The graphics are very cartoon-like, like any other Crash Bandicoot game, but there will be times where they feel dated. The music can get really annoying, but the voice acting isn't bad at all. Crash Twinsanity also provides you with odd levels, like using Cortex as a snowboard and using his crotch to grind on something to a tumble roll where Crash and Cortex beat the crap out of each other and you need to lure them out of danger. Well, there is something that the game does really good at. When you torment Cortex, his face will actually change into some hilarious expressions, like a cross-eyed look when Crash grinding a narrow path, but sadly, there isn't much to these expressions. After you seen them for the hundredth time, you lose the sense of humor towards it. And like I said before about the tumble roll levels. The game really kills the gameplay on those levels. The tumble roll controls are really unresponsive, so you are constantly losing lives and making no progress. Every boss you fight is a boss from the past games, like Tiny the tiger and that clock dude from Crash Bandicoot: Warped. You might fight them one-on-one or have to fight two at once, any other way, they are badly balanced between fun and frustrating, but not as frustrating as the boss fights in Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex. Why do you need to go through all this? To find Crash Bandicoot's classic Crystals. Well, Crash and Cortex may not be the greatest of friends, but they are far from being as memorable as Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank. A buyable game? If you are a real Crash Bandicoot fan and are looking for some different features, this is the game for you. If you aren't, it is a definite must-rent.
