It'll drive you crazy! But is that a good thing?
The presentation of the game is pretty bare bones. You've got crazy taxi 1 + 2, and all the options in each game, as well as a few minigames and multiplayer modes (which i havent played at the time i wrote this) more options and modes wouldve been nice though.
It looks and sounds good too. Visually its not the best ever, but its stylized, the framerate holds up, and all around looks fine. Audio kind of suffers though. You got that brilliant/annoying voice that goes "WHOS READY TO MAKE SOME CRRRRAAZZY MONEY!" and a hand full of tracks as well. But you can create custom soundtracks with your own mp3s. However the civilians you pick up seem to be the same guy (even in the same gameplay session) and they have the same voices. I still like it though.
Gameplay wise, the game is pretty basic. Its the same game everytime. Nothing really randomized or different. All the civilians are in the same spots and usually demand to be taken to each same spot. If you've never played crazy taxi before, basically your a taxi driver and you have to get your rider to their destination as quickly as possible. And the more you drive like an alcoholic the more points (cash) youll get. This would be more fun if the controls didnt suck. By default you accelerate with R and brake with L. It can be changed though, BUT you have to switch gears to go in reverse, as opposed to just holding brake. This along with slippery steering (more so in CT2) make the game stumble in this department.
Overall crazy taxi on the psp is a crazy game. The ability to create custom soundtracks is a welcome bonus missing from too many psp games, the gameplay (despite awkward/poor controls) is fun, but a lack of options/presentation, and real variety make it far from perfect. Still if you want a crazy psp game to kill some time, its worth it. CRAZY!
