Despite being a very old game it remains the most advanced artificial life game to date beating the recent “The Sims 2" It's relatively quick to learn but it takes a while to master. There are always more to find out. The 3 main species in it, called the Norns, Ettins and Grendels all have their unique quirks for example the ettins are kleptomaniacs. They have very advanced biochemistry as well. The items can be connected to form machines even. It is very user-expandable with new species and breeds being created with the remarkably simple genetics editor. New items can be made with a language called CAOS (Creatures Agent/Object Scripting). There is an entire online community with sites such as Albia 2000 (www.albia2000.com) and Norn Tech (www.norntech.com) and there is even a wiki. (creatures.wikicites.com) The community has remarkable friendliness. In conclusion despite this game taking a bit to learn and master it is well worth your time. There is a free version called docking station available at www.creaturelabs.com .
