An addicting diversion

The developers of this one came up with an interesting twist on the shooter style, namely the use shooting while flying in a plane. I use the term "flying" loosely because it is no flight sim, but a very simple arcadey flight model. But there is definitely a sense of flight involved, and it was very thrilling to me to play through the entire single player game. You acquire an array of different airplanes to fly in, but other than the missions that you need to use a specific type, I ended up using the original airplane in it's upgraded form for the entire game. They were very creative in coming up with different mission types, and I never was bored. The sound, music and graphics were all very well done. The story was also kind of interesting, but I felt a little underdeveloped and had too many holes and jumps in the storyline. For me the only real negative was the way the game had several long missions that had some checkpoints where you would restart from if you crashed, but if you turned off your game mid-mission, you would have to start all the way from the beginning of the mission as the game didn't save your mid level checkpoint progress. It wasn't too bad, but there was a couple times I ended up playing the same part over again way too many times because I had to turn off my Xbox before finishing. Also the difficulty balancing was a little off, with a final "Boss" fight that I have to admit was a little too frustrating for me, so I turned on the no-damage cheat to finish. I never played the Live portion, so I can't comment on that. In summary, if you can find this for cheap, give it a try, and at least an hour to grow on you, and you might be pleasantly surprised like I was.
