A dogfighting extravaganza that offers instant pick-up and play action!
The game is great. It's fun from the moment you pick it up and sample the intuitive controls that are easy to learn, but take a little time to master. The story is very far fetched and totally incedental to the action, but at least it keeps the gae on some kind of track.
The action itself is very intense and has a heavy arcade feel to it. Boost around the place dodging missiles and AA fire from zeplins and ground assault trucks and you'll be on the edge of your seat in no time. It's in this area that the game comes into its own and is so fun.
The single player game offers about a 14 hour campaign, which has quite fun, varied missions that keep you constantly interested. The number of planes available to you slowly increases as you go along, and you can upgrade them using tokens you get from completing missions or finding them around the map. All of the planes have there own little perks, which are fun to get to know and use.
The multiplayer element is as it should be: Fun and action packed, nothing fancy.
The game really only falls down in the graphics department, and in the fact the gameplay is so immediatly fun, that you soon see how shallow the whole thing actually is. This doesn't detract greatly from the experience, but it does bring down the quuality of the game a bit.
In the end, this game is fun, and nothing else. It seeks to entertain, and for that goal, it greatly succeeds.
