Great potential, but overall unrealized.

I found this game by accident. I was sifting through my friend's game collection and saw it near the bottom. After a little bit of haggling, I managed to borrow it from him and played through. I've always loved Fighter games, and this one is a very nice one. The controls were marvelous, and everything was natural and smooth. Every action of the plane was at my fingertips. As for graphics, they were beautiful. It was great to fly over a sparkling ocean and see the sunset in the distance, all in crystal clarity. The detail was very nice, too, with every little bump and crevice in the landscape mapped out with precision. The only thing that got irritating was the Zepplins' graphics. When they blew up, it looked good at a distance, but up close it was quite crappy. That and a few minor glitches were the only bad spots in an otherwise perfect graphics scheme. Sound effects were very good, but the music was somewhat annoying. It basically replayed the same old stuff, with only slight irritations. Missions. The mission system was marvelous. It gave you enough legroom to explore, but there were also enough missions to keep you from getting bored. But the only problem with the game missions is that once you've beaten it, there is no more replay value. None. All in all, this one is definitely one you'll want to rent or borrow. Not enough replay value in it to keep you going past the ending of the game.
