Solid game play, interesting storyline. Kinda like INTERSTAE 76 but you have modified planes in alternate post WW2.

I'm not a big fan of flight sims & flying games, on PC or X Box, but there was something about "Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge" that made me keep playing it even after the initial novelty wore off. The controls are easy to figure out. Shooting & aiming are pretty much straight forward, both literally & in the way you control it. After the first 5 minutes of training you’ll want to go right into the meat of the game. The graphics are good. The backgrounds are nothing too fancy but there isn’t much to look at when flying into combat at high speeds. The action & subjects’ graphics are clean & good with nice little strokes like while taking fire the engine exhaust becoming gradually heavier until fire breaks out. Nothing that you haven’t seen before in NFS etc, but nicely polished up. Sound is good, again, it’s what you would expect but brought up to date with great surround sound. In surround you get to hear the bullets hit you & go down the side of the plane from front to rear & other clean audio effects. The great thing about this game is the storyline & game progression. Kinda like the PC game “INTERSTAE 76” but you have modified air ships in alternate post WW2 future, not muscle cars in the 70's. You need to fly from island to desert etc & on the way rescue, find, and help friends & colleagues until you get to the end. Throughout you have to battle enemies & foes with your fighter fleet & land, blimp & boat based guns & cannons. No spoilers here, you just gotta play it to understand. Interesting enough to keep me coming back each day until I completed all the levels and finished the game in story mode & with X Box LIVE support after finishing the game I had another reason to play. Well maybe the great thing about the game is the LIVE support even though I noticed a fizzle out of a lot of players after a month or three like so many other LIVE games. Overall I recommend this game to everyone that like action games, high speed, story driven plots & if you are wary of flying games like I was then defiantly give this one a try. It’s not a fighter flight simulator. "Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge" is simple to fly & fight & exciting to complete. Most importantly, it is fun.
